Project 1: Aboriginal Paintings Level: Grades prek-2 Dates: September 18 & 19 @ 6:30 p.m. Session Description: Students will be using painting using the techniques of the Australian Aboriginals.
Project 2: African Mask Making Level: Grades 7-12 Dates: October 2 & 3 @ 6:30 p.m. Session Description: Students will be using air dry clay to create a sculpture mask like those masks made by various African artists.
Project 3: Making Mandalas Level: Grades 7-8 Dates: October 16 & 17 @ 6:30 p.m. Session Description: Students will be creating mandalas drawings using markers on tag board and learning the sand art techniques used by artists in India.
Project 4: Sculpt your own Easter Island Head Level: Grades 3 - 4 Dates: November 7 & 8 @ 6:30 p.m. Session Description: Students will be using a variety of everyday materials to create their very own Easter Island Head sculpture.
Project 5: Making Folding Screens with Printmaking Dates: December 4 & 5 @ 6:30 p.m. Level: Grades 9-12 Session Description: Students will be creating a Folding Screen and learning the printmaking techniques used by Asian Artists.
Project 6: Swedish Dala Horse Sculpture Dates: December 17 & 18 @ 6:30 p.m. Level: Grades prek-2 Session Description: Students will be using air dry clay to create a Dala Horse Sculpture similar to those sculptures found in Sweden.
Project 8: Dragon SculptureChinese New Year Dates: January 29 & 31 @ 6:30 p.m. Level: Grades 5-6 Session Description: Students will be learning to create their very own Chinese Dragon sculpture.
Project 9: Medieval Castle Drawings Level: Grades 3-6 Dates: February 19 & 21 @ 6:30 p.m. Session Description: Students will be learning a variety of drawing techniques that they will use to create a drawing of a medieval castle.
Project 10: Painting Hawaiian Flowers Dates: March 5 & 7 @ 6:30 p.m. Level: Grades prek-2 Session Description: Students will be creating a watercolor painting of a Hawaiian flower of their choice and learning a variety watercolor techniques.
Project 11: Arabic Calligraphy Date: March 26 @ 6:30 p.m. Level: Grades 7-9 Session Description: Students will be creating a drawing on parchment paper and using calligraphy techniques and learning about the art of Arabic Calligraphy.
Project 12: Paper Mosaics Collage Dates: April 16 & 17 @ 6:30 p.m. Level: Grades prek-2 Session Description: Students will be creating a paper mosaic and learning collage and mosaic techniques.
Project 13: End of the Year Drawing Party! Date: June 4 @ 6:30 p.m. Level: All Grades Session Description: Students will be creating a drawing of what they are most excited about for their upcoming summer vacation. RVA will provide no materials for this project.All Around the World
